(Re-)Watch Polifonia presentation at AI & Music Festival - Sonar
With its newly created demos, Polifonia showcased fascinating facets of discovering music similarity and music recommendations
On 28 October, Valentina Presutti presented the Polifonia demo and research at the new AI & Music festival organised by Sonar Barcelona for the first time. The event was attended by music and tech enthusiasts both online and at the amazing venue of The Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona. As a start, the large datasets used in Polifonia and the vast amount of questions they trigger were introduced. Then, the Polifonia Knowledge Graph (KG) was revealed to the public. The Polifonia KG uncovers the hidden treasures of musical heritage contained in catalogues as well as many other sources by interlinking these diverse data and datasets. It opens many doors.
After the research, Valentina Presutti showed the first two demos of the Polifonia application. The first one covers lyrics similarity and harmonic similarity, two ways to find similarities between arious songs, most of them belonging to different times and countries. The second demo was about the music recommending agents of Polifonia: how Polifonia empowers its users to define by themselves the criteria for music recommendation. This is quite unique as common music streaming programmes rely on automated music selections. Don’t miss the exciting Polifonia demo and the musical sparks, you can (re-)watch the show here.
