Talk: Dr. Meroño has given two talks on many relevant topics to Polifonia
Albert Meroño’s talks focused on representing and transforming different knowledge modalities in Knowledge Graphs
During the last few weeks of June, Albert Meroño has given two talks about many relevant topics for Polifonia at the Information Sciences Institute of the University of Southern California, and at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Both talks revolved around issues of representing and transforming different knowledge modalities, like text, structured data, images and music in Knowledge Graphs. For example, in previous work done in collaboration with various other researchers now in Polifonia, they used various techniques to enable SPARQL queries to create music mash-ups, and query music using content (e.g. notes) and metadata altogether. On the other hand, language and sequence models have been proven very effective for the modelling and generation of music, and they showed plans to incorporate techniques in music structure analysis (MSA) to improve these models. The ways in which users and applications interact this wealth of symbolic and subsymbolic culture representations is also a key question; various ways of doing that were also discussed.
