National Organ Day 2023 will kick off in Delft on September 9 and the theme for this year is Levend Erfgoed: Als monumenten konden praten… (Living Heritage: if monuments could speak…). Central to National Organ Day is the pipe organ, the largest musical instrument played by a single person. In its craftsmanship and with its countless sound variations, it is a surprise to many what music an organist can conjure from this intriguing instrument. In the Polifonia pilot ORGANS, too, that very pipe organ takes center stage. All Dutch organs on display during National Organ Day and detailed information about the instruments will be included in a digital database that will be published online next spring.
