Partner introduction: The Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (CNAM)
The Cédric Lab. of the CNAM has a long history in research on music representation such as digital music processing and music information retrieval
- What is the relation between your organisation/institution and music?
The Cédric laboratory (The Center for Studies and Research in Computer Science and Communication, CEDRIC) is involved for more than 10 years in studies on information and knowledge management applied to music representations. More specifically, we address digital music processing and music information retrieval through music notation, using this notation as a descriptive language to identify and extract high-level features and knowledge from other representations (e.g., audio or images).
- What do you bring to the Polifonia project?
We hope to contribute to Polifonia with our experience and the high-quality datasets we collected in the Neuma platform. Furthermore, our major contribution will be the results of our work in the Polifonia project which focuses on patterns extraction, collection indexing, and navigation in large collections of music documents.
- What do you hope to get out of the Polifonia project?
We are extremely excited to work with experts in knowledge management, knowledge extraction and digital approaches to cultural heritage management.
